Due March 7th, 2008. Please type up your answers in Microsoft Word, Word Perfect, OpenOffice Writer or RTF file format, and email to me before midnight on Friday, March 7th. Do not post your answers on the wiki.

I will be adding a final question later, by March 5th.

  1. Explain briefly the meaning of the following terms: Mass production, muda, concurrent production, quality assurance.
  2. (200 words) How did Dalton's atomic theory affect the industrial revolution? Just give a couple of relevant examples. You may need to speculate here, along the lines of this TV series.
  3. (300 words) How has our understanding of pollution changed over the last 500 years? How has this affected (a) how we design our manufacturing processes and (b) where we place our factories?
