At 8:00pm on Thursday, June 3rd, there will be a special performance of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, in the Snell Theatre. The event will follow the plenary address by Paul Anastas that closes the Thursday technical program. Entry is free for all registered attendees. This will you give a chance to laugh and relax, after a full day of quantum dots and asymmetric aminohydroxylations!

In this 2005 Tony Award-winning musical, "six kids in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn’t everything and losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser."

The New York times have a glowing review of the Broadway production, calling Spelling Bee "effortlessly endearing", with the musical score described as similar to "a Saturday morning television cartoon set to music by Stephen Sondheim."
